Privacy Policy

This policy sets out what MZN Tech does with personal information, because a privacy policy nobody can read protects nobody.

Information we collect

When you read the site. Our servers and our analytics record ordinary technical details of each visit: which page was requested, when, the referring page, and your browser and device type. Your IP address is used to work out an approximate location, typically no finer than a city, and is not used to identify you personally.

When you email us. If you write to hello@meizunews.com we hold your address and the content of your message. That is unavoidable, since it is how a reply gets back to you.

Nothing else. There are no accounts and no payments here.

Why we collect it

Three reasons only: to keep the site running and diagnose faults; to understand in aggregate which articles are being read, so we know what to write next; and to answer correspondence. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in operating a publication, and for anything non-essential stored on your device, your consent.

Cookies and similar technology

We use a small number of cookies. Some are strictly necessary and simply make the site work. Others support analytics and are set only where consent is required and given. Where we use affiliate links, the retailer at the other end may set its own cookie once you click through, which is how they attribute a sale; that happens on their site, under their policy. Every browser lets you view, block and delete cookies, and doing so will not lock you out of anything here.

Third parties

Running a website means using other people’s infrastructure. We use a hosting provider, a content delivery network, an analytics service and an email provider. Each acts as a processor on our instructions and is bound by its own data protection terms. We do not sell personal data, share it with data brokers, or hand it to advertisers.

Some articles embed video or link to retailers and manufacturers. Those organisations collect data under their own policies as soon as you interact with them, and we have no visibility into that.

Retention

Analytics is retained in aggregated form and is not linked to a named person. Email is kept while the conversation is live, and for a sensible period afterwards as a record. Ask us to delete your correspondence and we will, unless we are legally obliged to keep it.

Your rights under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR

You have the right to be told what we hold about you, to have inaccurate information corrected, to have your data erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, to receive a copy in a portable format, and to withdraw consent for anything you consented to. Exercising these rights costs nothing. Email hello@meizunews.com and tell us plainly what you want; we will respond within one month, which is the statutory limit.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK, or to the supervisory authority in your own country. We would appreciate the chance to put it right first.

Children

MZN Tech is written for a general adult audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age at which consent can be given in their country.

Changes to this policy

Any revision appears on this page. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will say so at the top rather than rely on you noticing.

MZN Tech

MZN Tech is a consumer technology site for people who are about to spend their own money. We cover phones, gadgets, audio and the buying decisions that sit between them, and we try to answer the question most reviews skirt: is this actually worth it, for you, at this price, this month.
